McCracken County uses a split clerk structure. Anita Turner, the Circuit Court Clerk, is the custodian for Kentucky Court of Justice case files. County Clerk Jamie Huskey is the separate county official for county clerk records. The County Clerk records page is the official local source for recorded documents, copy and certification charges, eCCLIX online records access, DOC Alert, open-records materials, and the recording fee schedule.

The County Clerk's records office line is 270-448-1540. For forms that require original signatures, the County Clerk marriage and notary materials state that documents must be mailed or brought in person to McCracken County Clerk, 301 South 6th Street, Paducah, KY 42003, and cannot be emailed or faxed when original signatures are required.

What the County Clerk Does in McCracken County

The County Clerk handles records that are often connected to court or probate questions but are not court case files. The office maintains county clerk indexed records and public-facing recorded-document services. The County Clerk also issues marriage licenses, manages notary licensing information, supports vehicle and election functions, and publishes open-records policy materials for county clerk records.

eCCLIX County Clerk Records Search

The County Clerk uses eCCLIX, the internet version of CCLIX, County Clerk Indexing. The research file notes that CCLIX is used in almost two-thirds of Kentucky county clerk offices and is relied on by attorneys, title searchers, surveyors, and realtors. eCCLIX is a County Clerk records portal. It should not be used as a court case portal, and it will not replace KYeCourts or direct Circuit Court Clerk requests for Circuit, Family, or District Court records.

McCracken has two eCCLIX routes. Commercial users use the subscription portal and may add other counties. Private citizens use the separate McCracken County residential signup for personal, noncommercial searches. The residential search is limited to McCracken County records, limited to five searches per day, and has no charge. That makes it useful for a resident checking recorded documents, but not for a title company or commercial research project.

DOC Alert for Deed and Mortgage Notices

The County Clerk advertises DOC Alert as a free Software Management, LLC service for mortgage and deed fraud notifications. Registration requires only a name and email. After registration, the service sends email notifications whenever a mortgage or deed with the registrant's name or business name is recorded in the County Clerk's Office. It is a monitoring and notification tool, not a lawsuit search, warrant search, criminal history check, or court docket service.

DOC Alert is especially relevant for property owners, businesses, and heirs watching for recorded deed or mortgage activity. It does not prove fraud by itself. It gives notice that a document was recorded so the person can contact the County Clerk, a title professional, or legal counsel if the recorded document appears suspicious.

How to Request a County Clerk Copy

County Clerk copies and certifications are for county recorded documents. A certified county clerk copy can be useful for deeds, mortgages, liens, recorded wills, plats, or other recorded instruments. It is not the same as a certified court disposition, divorce decree, criminal judgment, or probate order. Those court documents belong with the Circuit Court Clerk.

1. Identify the record type, such as deed, mortgage, lien, plat, power of attorney, recorded will, marriage license, or open-records document.
2. Search eCCLIX if online access is appropriate, using the residential or commercial route that matches the purpose.
3. Call the County Clerk records office at 270-448-1540 if the record is not clear online or a certified copy is needed.
4. Prepare the names, document type, approximate recording date, book and page or instrument number if known, number of copies, and certification request.
5. Mail or bring in forms requiring original signatures to McCracken County Clerk, 301 South 6th Street, Paducah, KY 42003.

County Open Records Request Fields

The County Clerk records page links open-records policy materials and an open-records request form. The county policy requirements captured in the research file say a request should identify the applicant, include contact information, specifically describe the records, and state whether the use is commercial or noncommercial. Commercial requests require a certified statement of commercial purpose.

McCracken County Clerk Fees

The County Clerk publishes copy, certification, and selected recording fees. These fees apply to County Clerk records and recorded documents. Court case filing fees, court-copy certification charges, traffic payments, and bonds must be confirmed through the Circuit Court Clerk or KCOJ systems.

Marriage Licenses and Recorded Wills

Marriage licenses in McCracken County are issued by the County Clerk. Both parties must be present, the fee is $60.00, the license is good for 30 days, and it can be used the day it is issued anywhere in Kentucky. The County Clerk states there is no blood test, no waiting period, and no need to provide divorce documentation. Applicants must show acceptable photo identification, and non-citizens must provide photo ID.

Recorded wills also belong in the County Clerk records discussion, but estate administration belongs in District Court probate. A user who wants to know whether a will was recorded can start with the County Clerk and eCCLIX.
